Surabaya, Indonesia – In a spirited celebration of passion, resilience, and youth excellence, SMA Muhammadiyah 2 Surabaya (Smamda) hosted the Smamda Champion Award 2025 on June 14 at the prestigious Mas Mansyur Hall, marking one of Indonesia’s most inspiring moments in student recognition.
More than just an award ceremony, Smamda Champion Award is a living testament to the school’s unwavering belief in nurturing talent and character beyond the classroom. This year’s edition spotlighted over 200 students who achieved remarkable success in academic, athletic, artistic, religious, scientific, and broadcast fields, both on a national and international level.
From gold medals in wushu and fencing to accolades in physics, podcasting, and Quran memorization, the stage bore witness to the power of holistic education. “This award is not just about trophies—it’s about celebrating the process, the grit, and the growth behind each achievement,” said one of the organizing teachers.
Among the honored was Zakiyyah An Nafisa, a wushu athlete who clinched victory at the International Kungfu Championship. As she accepted a scholarship reward of five months tuition-free education, she said,
“Alhamdulillah, I feel deeply appreciated. Smamda has truly supported me—not only as a student but as an athlete and a person.”
The growth in participation from 125 students last year to over 200 in 2025 reflects not just rising achievements but also the school’s evolving culture of empowerment. “This is our way of igniting a student’s inner fire—to inspire confidence, resilience, and a sense of purpose,” noted Headmaster Astajab. He also confirmed that three students earned “golden tickets” to public universities through their achievements—further reinforcing the bridge between excellence and opportunity.
Behind this movement stands a strong collaboration between educators and families. Fajar Zulkarnaen, a proud parent, expressed heartfelt gratitude:
“Smamda goes beyond expectations. They offer extra training, mentorship, and genuine care. For parents like us, that means everything.”
In the age of digital distractions and academic pressure, Smamda Champion Award stands out as a celebration of character, curiosity, and community. It highlights how recognition and support can transform ambition into achievement—and how education, when done right, touches lives far beyond school walls.
“This is only the beginning,” the principal concluded with quiet pride.
“We will continue to grow opportunities, elevate our standards, and walk with each child in their journey of excellence—one milestone at a time.”
