Jakarta – Professor Dr. Haedar Nashir, Chairman of Muhammadiyah, will be awarded the Bintang Legiun Veteran Republik Indonesia (LVRI) on Thursday, July 10, in Jakarta. This prestigious distinction is the highest honor bestowed by the LVRI, recognizing individuals who have played a vital role in supporting veterans and promoting the spirit of national defense.
The award is granted under Decree No. SKEP-41/MBLV/XII/05/2025 dated May 28, 2025, issued by the central leadership of the LVRI. Past recipients include national figures such as President Prabowo Subianto, General (Ret.) Dudung Abdurachman, and Governor of Riau Islands, Ansar Ahmad.
Haedar Nashir is widely recognized not only as a scholar and leader in Islamic modernist thought but also as a statesman who consistently advocates for unity, pluralism, and nation-building. As the leader of Muhammadiyah, one of the country’s largest Islamic organizations, he has overseen initiatives spanning education, healthcare, community development, and ideological resilience.
Beyond organizational leadership, Professor Haedar is a prolific public intellectual. He has authored numerous books and over 500 essays for Suara Muhammadiyah, along with hundreds more for national outlets such as Republika. His writings reflect a calm yet unwavering commitment to national ideals, emphasizing Pancasila, religious harmony, and cultural identity as core pillars of Indonesia’s future.
Haedar’s contributions have earned him multiple accolades in recent years, including the Hamengku Buwono IX Award (2024), Lifetime Achievement Award from Hospital Management Asia (2024), and Tokoh Pendidikan Keusahawanan Honor (2025) from Universiti Malaysia Kelantan. Most recently, he was named Islamic Book Fair’s 2025 Islamic Publishing Personality of the Year.
