Bandung – Badrul Khamal, a fourth-semester student from the Faculty of Forestry at Universitas Nusa Bangsa (UNB) Bogor, has carved a name for himself through a remarkable achievement at the Grand Final of the 2025 West Java Environmental Ambassador competition, held in Bandung on July 9.
Representing both Bogor Regency and his university, Badrul won three distinguished awards in one night: 1st Runner-Up Environmental Ambassador of West Java, Most Talented Ambassador, and People’s Favorite Ambassador.
His journey began in Kampung Cisangku, Malasari Village, Nanggung Subdistrict — a remote area nestled near the Taman Nasional Gunung Halimun Salak (TNGHS), where Badrul is actively involved as a conservation youth leader under MKK Cisangku. His work includes forest preservation, community empowerment, and conservation education rooted in local wisdom.
“Environmental advocacy is not just a message; it’s a lifelong commitment. I will keep voicing and defending it wherever I stand,” said Badrul after the ceremony.
His passion is reflected not only in his community work but also in his academic environment. Badrul collaborates regularly with lecturers and fellow students on service-learning initiatives, combining field-based conservation with academic knowledge.
His achievement was warmly celebrated by the university. UNB Rector Budi Mulyanto expressed deep pride in Badrul’s accomplishment, calling him a role model for other students. “This must go beyond ceremonial moments — it should translate into real, lasting environmental actions,” he stated.
Luluk Setayingsih, Dean of the Faculty of Forestry and Environment, highlighted Badrul’s strong academic record and his active role in student organizations. The university’s Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, Karmanah, who accompanied Badrul to the Grand Final, also conveyed her emotional gratitude to all stakeholders who supported Badrul — from the Bogor Regent and local government to corporate and community partners.
With this success, Badrul will go on to represent West Java at the upcoming National Ecotourism Youth Ambassador competition next month. His journey stands as an inspiring story of how young voices from the forest edges can echo across the nation.
