Independence Day Celebration in IKN to Mark the Start of Civil Servant Relocation

Jakarta, April 17, 2024 – The meticulous preparations for the relocation of civil servants (ASN) to the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) are advancing steadily, as confirmed by Minister of Public Works and Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono and Minister of State Apparatus and Bureaucratic Reform (Menpan RB) Azwar Anas. They have assured that the transfer of ASN will be completed no later than September 2024.

Addressing the media in Jakarta on Tuesday (16/4), Minister Basuki emphasized, “We are aiming for the relocation of ASN to the IKN to be completed by September.” This statement underscores the government’s commitment to the timely execution of this monumental administrative transition.

The delay in the relocation timeline is attributed to the prioritization of housing and office facilities in the IKN for the smooth execution of the 79th Independence Day Ceremony of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) scheduled for August.

Minister Basuki elaborated, “The 79th Independence Day Ceremony is slated to take place at the IKN, after which the relocation of ASN will commence.” This decision reflects a strategic approach to ensure the seamless integration of administrative functions into the new capital city while honoring important national events.

The assurance provided by the ministers reaffirms the government’s determination to execute the relocation process efficiently, signaling a significant step forward in the realization of the ambitious Nusantara Capital City project.
