Taking Lessons from the Successful Journey of Nadiem Makarim, Founder of Gojek

Nadiem Makarim is an Indonesian entrepreneur who made a name for himself by founding Gojek. Although not as popular as Mark Zuckerberg or Drew Houston, the development of business model creativity in Indonesia should be appreciated.

Nadiem was born on July 4, 1984, and studied in Singapore, Brown University, and Harvard Business School before working at McKinsey & Company, Zalora Indonesia, and Kartuku. Based on his experience, he founded Gojek in 2011.

Gojek, led by Nadiem as CEO of PT Gojek Indonesia, offers ojek transportation services that have experienced rapid growth since the launch of its app in early 2015. Nadiem identified the main problems of Ojek drivers and Ojek users and proposed a solution by connecting the two through a mobile application.

Gojek has proven its achievements, with more than 10,000 Ojek drivers joining. The business model is a profit-sharing scheme, with Gojek taking 20% and the rest going to the Ojek drivers.
Nadiem hopes that Gojek can help and serve all Indonesians, wherever they are.
